The numbers behind everyday life
Everyday Index is an independently operated website about prices, wages, housing and the economy, with a focus on British Columbia and Canada. We bring public statistics together in charts, comparisons and articles to help readers explore how economic changes connect to daily life.
The site is operated by Sienith Management, a Canadian corporation. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with Statistics Canada, the Bank of Canada or the other organisations cited as sources.
What you can find here
Explore price changes over time, compare products and regions, follow economic release schedules, and read explanations of the stories behind the numbers. English and Japanese content is provided to make these topics accessible to more readers.
How we use data
We identify sources, dates, units and comparison periods alongside our figures. Where a percentage or illustration is calculated by this site, we explain the basis. Average retail prices and consumer price indexes measure different things; comparisons should be read with the relevant notes.
Data may be revised by the original publisher. Update schedules differ across sources, so figures on different pages may refer to different periods. Our charts and explanations are intended to add context to the original statistics.
Editorial approach and corrections
We aim to distinguish published data from calculations and interpretation, and to support factual claims with links to sources. Translation and drafting tools may assist preparation; the operator is responsible for reviewing the published material.
If you spot an error, please send the article or page URL, the figure or wording in question, and the supporting source through our contact page. We review corrections and update the relevant page when appropriate.
