What this measure covers
Statistics Canada 14-10-0063-01, Labour Force Survey. Employees aged 15 and over, total gender, full- and part-time combined. Monthly, not seasonally adjusted. Canada excludes the territories. Usual main-job wages before taxes and deductions, including tips, commissions and bonuses.
Changes are nominal, not adjusted for inflation. Average wages reflect both pay and changes in the mix of employees and jobs; they are not an individual worker’s pay rise or an employer’s total labour cost. Accommodation & food services includes accommodation and is not restaurants alone. BC figures are province-wide, not Vancouver city figures. Missing endpoint comparisons are left unavailable. Source status E means use with caution; suppressed values are excluded.
The cards compare both regions at their latest shared month for the selected industry. The chart displays up to five years. Percentage change = (latest hourly wage ÷ earlier hourly wage − 1) × 100. A multi-year change is cumulative, not an annualized rate.
